Welcome Alumni Alumni Directory Religious Fund 75th Anniversary Reunion Alumni Photo Gallery Religious Fund During our April 1997 Alumni Reunion, many Modin Alumni asked us how they could help to keep Modin growing strong. We thought about it for some months and we eventually introduced the Camp Modin Religious Fund. The Religious Fund offers Modin Alumni a way to help preserve the cultural heritage of Camp Modin--and is dedicated strictly to enhancing the Jewish facilities at Camp Modin. We had a number of projects that centered on upgrading Modin’s religious "equipment" and attending to the religious life of the camp. The two most pressing needs were a Modin Torah for the 21st Century and a new outdoor Bimah. In Spring 1998 we sent out a mailing that included an invitation to support the Religious Fund and within days we heard back from numerous alumni. Our New Bimah: The initial response to our announcement was so enthusiastic that in June 1998 we were able to begin constructing a new outdoor Bimah and on July 4, 1998, Camp Modin said the first brachot atop the new Bimah. Our Need for a Torah: Modin has been in possession of a rescued Torah that was donated to the camp back in 1954. Unfortunately its condition has deteriorated so much over the years that it is no longer useable. For some time the Maine synagogues have graciously loaned out a Torah for each season, however the camp would welcome the domation of a new or used Torah from the Alumni. If you are interested in making a donation to the Modin Religious Fund, please call the Modin offices or email us at modin@modin.com.
