Creating a community means providing children with the best camping traditions, but also creating a comfortable, safe living space for them. A bunk of campers is only as solid and as welcoming as the building they inhabit. At Modin, our modern, spacious cabins provide that sense of belonging—a place where everyone can be together.
The facilities at Modin are first class. From our expansive waterfront and tournament ski boats, to our state of the art fitness pavilion and teen lounge, to our rustic lodge and spacious recreation center, the list of facilities is truly extensive.
Yet it is not these facilities that define us. Rather, it is the quality of our program and the commitment of a dedicated team of staff that afford us the opportunity to provide each child with a safe, diverse, well-rounded and unforgettable camping experience.
All cabins at Modin are spacious and modern. The average building is only a few years old and all facilities are well maintained. Cabins feature showers, toilets and sinks with hot & cold water. All beds are modern, twin size wooden structures and the mattresses fit twin-size sheets. On average, there are two bunks per age with twelve children and four counselors.
Meals at Modin are served family style, affording campers the opportunity to further connect as bunkmates. Our Kosher dining facilities offer an extensive range of healthy options and choices for a variety of tastes and palates. We are able to accommodate many allergy restrictions including gluten free diets and nut allergies. During the week we eat in our dining hall in three shifts, either by age or gender. On Friday evening our community eats together for Shabbat in our spacious Rec Center. Throughout the summer our community also enjoys full camp outdoor cookouts.
The 12,000-square-foot facility features a professionally designed theatre with state-of-the-art sound and computerized lighting systems; regulation basketball court with electronic scoreboard.
Modin has many indoor facilities with exciting activities, programs and opportunities no matter what the weather brings. The Modin Pavilion is a large facility overlooking majestic Salmon Lake and currently houses our gymnastics program. The Pavilion is also furnished with a large movie screen and provides ample space for major camp gatherings, indoor programs and evening activities.
Kadison Lodge is a rustic, cozy place for campers and counselors to gather, relax and just spend time together. It is often used for leadership training programs and also houses our study room where campers can receive academic tutoring. Berkson Hall, a beautifully renovated facility, houses our teen center. Here children of all ages can hang out, listen to music and enjoy a friendly game of pool, fooseball, air hockey or ping-pong. Berkson Hall also houses our DJ studio where campers learn to mix their own music.
The lower level of the Modin Pavilion houses both our Fitness Center & Studio. The Fitness Center is equipped with modern health club machines for both cardio and strength training. Certified instructors guide campers through a carefully planned and supervised fitness program adapted to all ages.
The Studio is a modern, air-conditioned multi purpose facility hosts many exciting activities. The mirrored walls are perfect for dance practice, theatre reherasal and fitness classes which include yoga, zumba and pilates. The surround-sound entertainment system is great for a fun-themed movie night. Flip on the disco lights and crank up the tunes and you're ready for a bunk party.
Two of the most exciting facilities at Modin include our brand-new trapeze center and outdoor sports arena. The Modin trapeze center—the first of its kind in North America—is a revolutionary design that requires no safety harness or netting and includes a state-of-the-art inflatable landing pad.Our multi-purpose outdoors sports arena is used for a variety of activities, including street hockey, roller hockey and European soccer (futsal). This massive space is large enough for a regulation play or can be divided in half for multiple programs to run simultaneously.
One of the things that sets Modin apart is the magnificent waterfront nestled on the shores of Salmon Lake. This breathtaking facility includes over one hundred watercraft, including Lasers, Sunfish, Hunters, Hobie Cats, canoes, kayaks, stand up paddle boards (SUPs), pedal boats and four tournament Malibu waterski boats.
Modin's extensive facilities include a beautiful lodge with a working fireplace, a library, a teen center, a high-ropes adventure course, a camp canteen and a modern medical center with on—site nurses and doctors.
Yet as fine as the facilities are, it is the community—the friendly faces and dedicated staff—that are at the heart of the Modin experience.
